Professor Dave Lewis
Vice President - Academic Development (2026-2028)
Professor Dave Lewis is a Professor of Education for Professional and Sustainable Development at the School of Biomedical Sciences, University of Leeds. His educational interests and activities are focused on the creation and delivery of personal and professional development opportunities, including non-traditional undergraduate research or capstone projects, and professional education and training opportunities in research animal sciences and ethics in the UK and globally. He is the Deputy Vice-President (Academic Development) of the British Pharmacological Society, Chair of the International Union of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology’s Integrative and Organ Systems Pharmacology Initiative, co-founder of the Pan-African Network for Laboratory Animal Science and Ethics (PAN_LASE) and a Member of the Stakeholder Board of the EU Education and Training Platform for Laboratory Animal Science (ETPLAS). He was previously Chair of the British Pharmacological Society’s Animal Welfare and In-Vivo Pharmacology Committee, and Theme Lead for the Physiological Society’s Education theme. Dave is an AdvanceHE National Teaching Fellow and a previous winner of the BPS Rang and the Physiological Society’s Otto Hutter teaching prizes.
