Professor Cherry Wainwright

Cherry Wainwright is Professor Emeritus at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen. Cherry's research focuses on mechanisms underlying the pathophysiology and the identification of novel therapeutic targets of cardiovascular diseases. Of particular interest is target validation, through evaluation of the role of endogenous biological mediators in myocardial and vascular injury, and the identification of natural-product-derived compounds as cardio- and vasculo-protective substances. Prof Wainwright is a Fellow and President Elect of the Society and a member of the IUPHAR Natural Products Section Committee.
