Since its launch in May 2020, the Community has grown and brought together members from around the world. With nearly 1000 members active across the Community, and 27 different Networks, there are lots of ways to connect with pharmacology from wherever you are in the world, whatever your interest, research area, or career stage!
The Community, available online and via a mobile app, allows members and staff to connect, collaborate and offer support. Members can find and message others via the platform, and can use dedicated Networks to share news, opportunities, and research updates related to specific interests.
As the Community continues to grow, we are very excited to welcome a team of Network Leaders to join the fun and help you to get the most from the Community and the Society. Read on to get to know some new faces, and learn how they can help you as you explore the Networks.
Why should I join a Network?
Networks are the areas within the Community where you can connect with other members with a shared interest. They provide a space for more tailored discussions, to find potential collaborators, ask questions, keep up to date with the latest opportunities, and share exciting updates. As well as the Networks focussed on particular areas of research, there are also Networks to support you at different career stages, and Networks like the International Pharmacology Network that bring together the community around the world. You will also see some Networks relating to Society Committees and groups, which help their members connect all year round outside of meetings.
Joining a Network is a great way to keep up to date with the latest conversations and opportunities, and it couldn’t be much easier to do! To join a network, simply click on the Network you would like to be part of, and then click the ‘Join’ button on the right-hand side of the banner at the top of the page. Once you’ve done this, congratulations, you’re now part of the Network and will receive notifications to let you know what’s happening in the group. You can also tailor how you receive notifications at any time by going to the ‘my settings’ tab under your profile.
New Networks are under consideration all the time, so if you have an idea for a Network that you’d like to discuss, you can always get in touch with the team by sending us an email.

Why don’t all Networks have Leaders?
It’s a good question. Some Networks already have natural leaders, such as Society Committees and groups who already have a Chair or staff contact. These groups don’t have an additional Network Leader, but you should be able to see who to contact on the Network page, should you have any questions or ideas you’d like to share.
For other Networks, we are still in the process of appointing Network Leaders, so if you are keen to get involved, keep an eye out for future calls for applications. We will let you know when new Network Leaders are appointed so you can get to know them.
