The BPS has, at its heart, the development and promotion of pharmacology and of those who are training and working in the field. With over 3000 members from 60 countries around the world, we are a truly international organization.
We cover the whole spectrum of pharmacology, including laboratory, clinical, and toxicological aspects and support our members at work in academia, industry and the health services.
This BPS supported meeting hopes to foster an interaction of researchers from all aspects of smooth muscle research to facilitate the exchange of novel concepts, techniques and developments.

FFARmacology in diabetes – an emerging picture for the free fatty acid receptor family in disease Organized by Simon Poucher AstraZeneca, Macclesfield, UK Fatty acids have long been known as important metabolic substrates and as structural components of biological membranes. However, they also function as signaling molecules. Recently, a series of G protein-coupled receptors (GPRs) for FAs has been described and characterized. Fatty acid receptors have been found to be expressed on different cell...
Hosted jointly with the American Microcirculatory Society BPS are supporting this joint meeting of the British Microcirculation Society and The Microcirculatory Society.
