Prescribing is one of the most common tasks expected of new doctors and is a complex process involving a mixture of knowledge, judgement and skills. Preparing graduates to be prescribers is therefore an essential aspect of undergraduate medical education.
The Society has published recommendations specifically for those who teach medical students, which explains the expected learning outcomes in pharmacology and prescribing for medical graduates, and describes a curriculum that might enable students to achieve these outcomes.
